Have You Been Paying Attention? | A U.S. Capitol Riot Dance Docu-Film

My newest dance film has been released on YouTube. The film includes footage of the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Due to the nature of this footage, the film can only be viewed directly on YouTube and is age restricted. You will need to log into YouTube in order to watch the film. Here is a link to my channel where you can find the film: Terpsichorean Media Group.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

“The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.” – https://www.un.org/

Today, I will be performing in On Display Global with Heidi Latsky Dance.

ON DISPLAY GLOBAL is our worldwide initiative honoring the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Each year, on December 3rd, local leaders from communities around the world coordinate live, human sculpture courts in their cities. This celebration began in 2015 with two sites – New York, NY and Hobart, Australia – and has since grown to encompass over 100 sites.

You can learn more about the performance here.

Heidi Latsky Dance welcomes you to join our worldwide, human sculpture court that challenges our collective understanding of seeing and being seen.

New music video from Gracie Nash

My partner (Kelsey Kempner) and I are in a music video together!

The song premiered today on Atwood Magazine! “I wrote “Sippy Cup” about three years ago when I was in the midst of the NYC dating scene,” Nash tells Atwood Magazine. “I had met a few nice guys, however the same issue kept creeping up: transparency. If you know me, you know that I’m the epitome of an open book. I treasure honesty and transparency so much in all my relationships…and yet I found myself swept up in these unfulfilling flings with mysterious and aloof men. One of the most notable romances was with a smooth-talking banjo player who constantly kept me on my toes. Inevitably, the affair fizzled out. At first I wondered what was wrong with me, why didn’t he want to open up to me? But upon reflection… I realized it wasn’t me at all.”

The music video was directed by Ed Hellman and produced by Katie Staab of Punch Card Films. We filmed late last year at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY.

This was an amazing project to be a part of, and I hope Kelsey and I get the opportunity to work with Gracie Nash more in the future!

If you’d like to learn more about Gracie Nash here is her Linktree.

Less than one week left!

I was recently commissioned to edit video for this amazing (web)site-specific project! If you ever played text based games, or read Choose Your Own Adventure books, this project will be right up your alley. You will get to explore a strange mystical world and make decisions that will fundamentally alter your journey.

Here is an introduction to the piece by the director and lead artist Dylan Seders Hoffman:

“A flower grows through a crack in your floor. A hidden CD, nestled in dirt, encircles the stem. Find a dusty desktop. Load the CD. Blank screen. Nothing. Close your eyes. A whirring jolts you awake. The screen reads “Upload Complete.” Green light seeps under your door. Reach for the knob. Turn. Enter.

Explore the digital realm of Vandershtok. Let your desires lead you as you travel through the immersive world. Through the choices made by each audience member and the moments of chance embedded in the piece, no two performances are the same.”

Tickets will be available up until the last day on October 18th.

You can find more info about how to purchase tickets here: https://www.vandershtok.com/how-to-enter

Once you have a ticket you can start your journey at: https://www.vandershtok.com/
